News from the Atlantic Kartsport Championship

May 5th 2007 - Summary of the rule changes

The Series formerly known as the M.P.K.S. has a new name! With several changes in the scheduling, the name also decided to be changed, and "Atlantic Kartsport Championship" was chosen for 2007 and beyond.

In other news, 2007 will race three races on two tracks, instead of the four races on four tracks like in the past. This was done at the request of Halifax's AMKA and Fredericton's NBKC to build both clubs' member base and to concentrate on Club racing.

AMKA will hold a "non-points" event called "Oktoberfest" at the 2.5 km Atlantic Motorsports Park on the weekend of October 12th-14th.

NBKC's executives have also mentionned the possibility of a non-points event sometime in 2007.

May 5th 2007 - The first karts are dusted off..

Despite not holding an AKSC points event in 2007, the New Brunswick Kart Club near Fredericton, New Brunswick was the first of the 4 clubs to jump into action with a Practice Day today. The weather looked cool and cloudy but no word yet on who was in attendance.

The New Brunswick Kart Club (NBKC) held 4 series races from 2003-2006, and has produced many champions in the series, including A.J. Durling, Chad Targett and defending Novice champion A.J. Nason.

Several drivers from the club are expected to race the AKSC this summer.

Karting is a source of family fun, DO NOT get in over your head!!
